Three Families, Three Starting Points
A closer look at how different families have engaged with Almonara programmes at different stages of their journey.
Starting the Conversation
A parent of two young children in Kota Kinabalu wanted to introduce saving habits but felt uncertain about what language to use with a five-year-old versus a nine-year-old. She had tried once and felt her children weren't engaged.
Teaching Kids About Money Workshop
She joined the single-day workshop and worked through the age-stage module with the facilitator. She left with a plan tailored to each child, including a saving jar setup for the younger child and an allowance tracking sheet for the older one.
Two Children, Two Routines
Four weeks after the workshop, both children had a money routine in place. The five-year-old fills her jar after every allowance. The nine-year-old tracks his spending in a simple sheet on the fridge. "The key was having a different approach for each age," she noted in her feedback.

Staying Consistent Through the Year
A father of three in Penampang had attended a one-off financial workshop elsewhere two years prior. He found it useful at the time but the habits had faded. He wanted something that provided consistent reminders and community accountability.
Parents' Toolkit & Community
He joined the annual Toolkit membership and has participated in nine of the twelve monthly Q&A sessions over the year. The community group has provided a space where he regularly shares updates about how his children are responding to different approaches.
Sustained Family Habits
Eleven months into the membership, all three children have a money role in the family — tracking spending, contributing to a shared holiday savings jar, and in the case of the eldest, managing her own small monthly allowance budget.
